Supergirl, as portrayed on The CW, is Kara Zor-El, Superman's Kryptonian cousin. Sent to Earth to protect her infant cousin Kal-El, her pod was knocked off course, trapping her in the Phantom Zone for decades.
Emerging decades later, a year after Superman's debut, she discovers that Kal-El has already become Superman. Guided by her cousin, Kara embraces her powers and her own destiny to become Supergirl, protecting National City.
